What will you do? You and your child will get a head start on kindergarten! Share books and activities that build kindergarten skills in class and are easily practiced at home.

What will we learn? Learn kindergarten basics like letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. You and your child will also go beyond the basics to work on social and emotional skills that all children need for school.

Read to a dog -- therapy dogs love to listen to stories! Our friend, Eugene, a gentle Labrador mix, will be waiting for you at the library. It will make him so happy to hear you read books! Bring your own book or take one from our shelves and spend some special time with Eugene. Reading aloud to certified therapy dogs is an excellent way for emerging readers to practice their skills (and lots of fun, too!) 

Opportunities to read with Eugene are limited to 15 minutes; four tickets will be available at service desk 30 minutes before the program begins.

Kindergarten Bootcamp

Is your child entering kindergarten in Fall 2020? If so, join a Kindergarten Bootcamp! This interactive series meets once a week for 7 weeks and gives families a taste of kindergarten. Parents and children learn together the social, academic, and classroom skills needed for school success. Receive free tools and activities each week leading up to Bootcamp graduation.

Registration is required and by registering you agree to attend all 7 weeks. Only register with your child’s name, adult registrations are not necessary. This series meets on the following dates: September 23, September 30, October 7, October 14, October 21, October 28, and November 4.  

This program is only for children entering kindergarten in Fall 2020. Not entering kindergarten in Fall 2020? Check out Tools for School.
