Just for signing up, you will get a coupon for  a free gently-used book to keep (note: coupon redemption is on hold at the moment until libraries reopen). At 500 points, all children birth to age 11 will receive a new book keep as well as a fun craft project (pick up at curbside). Little Bytes Online: June/July 2021

Did you know that children can learn the foundations of coding before they can write and spell?  Learn basic problem-solving skills and new vocabulary for children as young as 4 to give them the building blocks to becoming an excellent coder.  Join us online for guided activities as we teach your child the basis of code - problem solving!

Who’s it for? Children ages 4-7 and their favorite grownups. An adult must participate onscreen with their child at all times. 

What will you do? In this online program, you and your child will play games, do activities, and learn vocabulary words that support basic coding skills.

Little Bytes Online is an 8 week series.  Program sessions will be held on June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 12, 19, and 26 from 3:30-4pm online. Registration is required and by registering you agree to attend all 8 online program sessions. You will receive an email with additional registration information and a required survey. Your registration cannot be finalized until you complete the emailed registration survey.

Supplies: All families will need to pick up a Little Bytes Online Supply Box from your local Phoenix Public Library branch. You will receive information about supply pick-up after you register. 

Note that customers on the waiting list for any Little Bytes Online series will be given first priority for registration on any new series offerings.

LENA Start Online

The LENA Start program is a 10-week workshop for parents/caregivers of babies between 0-33 months. You will use the LENA Talk Pedometer and LENA's Talking Tips to directly impact the growth in your baby’s brain. 

To learn more, watch this video: What Families are Saying About LENA Start. Please note our classes will be meeting virtually. No childcare will be provided. 

Classes

Each week you will:

  • Learn about talk through a short video.
  • Attend a live, online group session to talk about how to use the science and strategies presented.
  • Use the LENA talk pedometer one day per week to count words your baby hears.

Registration

Classes are for adults only and will meet once a week for 10 weeks. Registration is required and by registering you agree to attend all 10 weeks of the series. Fill in the registration questions on this page and we will send you a link to complete the enrollment process.

Material Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Each week you will submit your LENA talk pedometer by either uploading it from your personal computer* OR returning it at one of the following library locations: Burton Barr Central Library, Agave, Cholla, Ironwood, Juniper or Palo Verde. You will receive a FREE book for your child each time you submit a talk pedometer.

*Your personal computer must meet certain technical requirements
