Learn about the differences between an employee and an independent contractor; how to determine eligibility to work legally in the United States; the importance of the Form W-4 and the employer's responsibility regarding withholding; how to verify work names and Social Security numbers; the purpose of the state new hire registry; the process for filing Form W-2; your obligations to notify employees about the Earned Income Tax Credit; the role of Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers; and finally, the process for enrolling in and using the FIRE system.
