Play the Summer Reading Game at your neighborhood library. Register online starting May 1st at maricopacountyreads.org or pick up a gameboard at your library. Earn 1 point for every minute of reading! Earn more points for attending fun-filled library events or participating in challenges.
Just for signing up, you can pick a free book to keep from the Friends corner at your library. But, wait, there's more!
  • Little Ones (birth to 4) get a free tote bag for signing up
  • Kids (ages 5-11) receive a Peter Piper coupon for free pizza
  • Teens (12-17) get a free water bottle
  •  At 500 points, everyone receives a Chipotle coupon (while supplies last) 
  • At 1,000 points, everyone receives a free book of their choice
  • GRAND PRIZE DRAWING! Veterans Employment and Housing Assistance

A Workforce Specialist from the DES Veterans Program will be available in the second-floor Phoenix Works Space of the Burton Barr Central Library every Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. to provide one-on-one employment assistance to veterans. Services provided include job searching, resume editing, referrals to job training, and information for homeless veterans on obtaining shelter.

Musical performance by Three-Legged Dog.  Three-Legged Dog is today’s version of the string bands that existed all about the country in the Thirties and Forties, groups that played everything – old time mountain music, blues, ballads, devotional and dance music, jazz, pop tunes of the day – on acoustic instruments.
