We READ 30-day Challenge

Make reading a habit by taking the We READ 30-day challenge! Kids, birth to 12, read (or are read to) for 30 days anytime between February 1 and April 1. It's easy! Just pick up a gameboard at any Phoenix Public Library and mark off each day that children read (outside of school).

Children may visit the library for a Treasure Chest prize after 15 days and earn a free We READ t-shirt designed by a local artist after 30 days. Grown-ups who read to children for 30 days earn a free reusable tote bag (perfect for library books!)

Food for Fines
Pay your library fees and help restock the pantries of Valley food banks. During "Food for Fines," 50 cents will be deducted from your library fees for each non-perishable food item donated. Fees up to $75 may be paid with donated food. Perishable, expired, beyond sell by date and homemade food items will not be accepted. Donated food will be distributed to St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance and Desert Mission Food Bank.

Family SPOT Resource Center presents Play On-the-Go. Kindergarten readiness starts at birth! Families with children birth to 5 years old who attend Play SPOT engage in hands-on kindergarten readiness activities. Each family receives a toolkit which includes at least one book, the month’s daily at-home activities and great resources. Supported by a grant from the First Things First North Phoenix Regional Partnership Council.

This program is designed for children three to five years old accompanied by a favorite adult. What is your child learning?  Children who can count, recognize geometric shapes and patterns and are eager to explore the world around them will be better prepared to succeed in kindergarten. Your kids are natural scientists. You can help them discover the world, build vocabulary and master basic science concepts.
