We READ 30-day Challenge

Make reading a habit by taking the We READ 30-day challenge! Kids, birth to 12, read (or are read to) for 30 days anytime between February 1 and April 1. It's easy! Just pick up a gameboard at any Phoenix Public Library and mark off each day that children read (outside of school).

Children may visit the library for a Treasure Chest prize after 15 days and earn a free We READ t-shirt designed by a local artist after 30 days. Grown-ups who read to children for 30 days earn a free reusable tote bag (perfect for library books!)

What is your child learning? Your toddler learns nine new words a day! Hearing stories, songs and rhymes helps develop your child's vocabulary.

Creative Jewelry Making for Adults 55+
This sequential 8-week hands-on program is designed to provide adults 55+ with the opportunity to create unique jewelry using found objects. Students will learn and practice jewelry-making techniques such as designing, beading, working with wire, and using patina solution to darken metal in an environment that encourages making peer connections. There will be a culminating art show at the end of the program. FREE of charge, thanks to a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and in cooperation with Lifetime Arts.org. Registration is limited to 12 adults, age 55+.
