Food for Fines
Pay your library fees and help restock the pantries of Valley food banks. During "Food for Fines," 50 cents will be deducted from your library fees for each non-perishable food item donated. Fees up to $75 may be paid with donated food. Perishable, expired, beyond sell by date and homemade food items will not be accepted. Donated food will be distributed to St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance and Desert Mission Food Bank.

Learning to Read is not easy, but sometimes, Sioux Pooh the Therapy Dog is appreciated more than a human audience. Children with a favorite adult are invited to read to Sioux Pooh the Therapy Dog every Wednesday in May from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
A study in 2010 by the University of California, Davis found children in reading programs who use therapy dogs increased their reading skills between 12% and 20% more than kids who did not have a canine audience.
