Kindergarten Bootcamp

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROGRAM.  To register, click here.

This class meets on the following dates: June 8th, June 15th, June 22nd, June 29th, July 6th, July 13th, and July 20th.  Attendance is expected at all 7 classes.

Kindergarten Bootcamp gives parents tools, information, and activities to help prepare their children for school success in a fun, educational, and interactive setting. The series consists of seven sessions, 1 hour each, for children who are preparing to enter kindergarten in Fall 2016 along with their parent or caregiver. Under the guidance of an early literacy specialist, parents and caregivers work with their children on foundational skills which have been demonstrated to be the most important for both a successful kindergarten and school experience. It is important that parents and children attend every session including Week 7 graduation!

Kindergarten Bootcamp is supported by the Phoenix Library Foundation.

Free Vision Screening 6/29/2016 1:30:00 PM
Free Vision Screening

Up to 1 in 4 children have a vision problem and parents, teachers and children themselves are often unaware. Undetected vision problems impact a child's learning, social growth and lifelong health.

Vision Quest 20/20, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving vision health, is offering free vision screenings for children ages 5 and up this summer at three Phoenix Public Library locations. To see all the available screenings, click here.

Using their revolutionary computer-game-based software -- EyeSpy 20/20 -- Vision Quest staff can accurately screen for exact visual acuity, color vision and depth perception.  This program has been scientifically validated and produces results comparable to those achieved by a certified ophthalmic technician.

Each screening takes about five minutes. Staff will provide a printed diagnostic report in English or Spanish. A parent or guardian must be present and give consent for the screening.

Reservations are recommended. Reserve your place in a 30 minute time block.
