We READ 30-day Challenge

Make reading a habit by taking the We READ 30-day challenge! Kids, birth to 12, read (or are read to) for 30 days anytime between February 1 and April 1. It's easy! Just pick up a gameboard at any Phoenix Public Library and mark off each day that children read (outside of school).

Children may visit the library for a Treasure Chest prize after 15 days and earn a free We READ t-shirt designed by a local artist after 30 days. Grown-ups who read to children for 30 days earn a free reusable tote bag (perfect for library books!)

Food for Fines
Pay your library fees and help restock the pantries of Valley food banks. During "Food for Fines," 50 cents will be deducted from your library fees for each non-perishable food item donated. Fees up to $75 may be paid with donated food. Perishable, expired, beyond sell by date and homemade food items will not be accepted. Donated food will be distributed to St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance and Desert Mission Food Bank.

Preschoolers (accompanied by a favorite adult) discover new books and stories, enjoy favorite songs, as well as other fun activities in this playful program. What is your child learning? Children who know the alphabet, have a rich vocabulary and understand the concept of printed language have a strong foundation for becoming successful readers. Space is limited; free tickets will be handed out 30 minutes prior to program.
