Kids In Focus:  is this year's most emotionally impactful art show on exhibit  at Burton Barr in the 2nd floor Gallery the month of March, and in Teen Central the month of April.

Professional photographers mentored underprivileged youth through a 9 week exploration of their world, using the safe aperture of the camera to help them gain a new perspective on themselves and their surroundings.

Kids in Focus is a non-profit dedicated to inspiring and empowering at-risk youth to see beyond their circumstances and shift from surviving to thriving.

Arizona Watercolor Association Spring Membership Exhibition

The Phoenix Public Library will host the Arizona Watercolor Association Spring Membership Exhibition from Wednesday, April 6 through Friday, May 6 on the second floor of Burton Barr Central Library, located at 1221 N. Central Ave.  The awards presentation and reception for the artists is open to the public and will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 21. This is a chance to meet and speak with a variety of artists. The exhibition will feature an array of traditional and abstract works in a variety of water media selected by juror Mel Stabin, an internationally recognized teacher, author of 'Watercolor Simple, Fast and Focused' and an award-winner watercolorist.  You will be amazed at the variety of styles and images presented in this show.

The @Central at Burton Barr Central Library is proud to present the Out of This World exhibit. Oil paintings by Dwayne Hall and sculptures by Grant Delph are inspired by the genre of Science Fiction which fuels, stimulates and influences their imaginative works. Come enjoy their works, join the fantasy and imagine distant worlds near and far!
A First Friday reception with the artists will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on June 3.  
The reception is supported by the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library

Woodworkers Source Little Libraries Competition
An exhibit of a variety of Little Free Libraries that have been built by carpenters right in Arizona. Mark Stevens, owner of Wood's Source, challenged his customers to be creative and build Little Free Libraries to be donated to Southwest Human Development. Little Free Libraries utilize a give a book, take a book system to encourage sharing, community and craftsmanship.

Arizona Chapter American Society of Landscape Architects 2016 Awards Exhibit
The Arizona Chapter American Society of Landscape Architects (AzASLA) 2016 Awards Exhibit features this year’s state award recipients of notable landscape architecture work in Arizona. The work presented in this exhibit feature extraordinary and unique projects designed by local landscape architects and landscape architecture students. Categories were based on general design, planning, residential, student work, and unbuilt work. The award recipients will be recognized at the AZASLA chapter’s annual gala in April at the Phoenix Art Museum, and will also be featured on the organization’s website at www.azasla.org.

Children who can count, recognize geometric shapes and patterns and are eager to explore the world around them will be better prepared to succeed in kindergarten. Your kids are natural scientists. You can help them discover the world, build vocabulary and master basic science concepts.
